MUSICAL FUTURES STUDIO

Thank you for your interest in Musical Futures.

All Musical Futures workshops have been postponed due to COVID-19 and the uncertainties surrounding this global event. We have currently suspended all workshop activity through until the end of June 2020.

The workshops listed beloware being re-scheduled  to Term 3 and 4, 2020 .  If you have already booked onto these workshops, we will be in contact with you soon and will also provide details of the new dates when confirmed.

Existing registrations will be carried forward new dates once they are confirmed.

Teachers are welcome to register for Semester 2 workshops as they are added.

We hope to resume our normal workshop program  as soon as possible.
Musical Futures Studio (MF Studio) workshops and resources bring together the best in music technology with Musical Futures proven approaches.

There are currently two streams of activity within the suite of MF Studio resources:

Create and perform - utilising Ableton Live
Collaborate and record - utilising Soundtrap

Create and perform

Ableton Live is a powerful creative tool for generating unique modern music and is the industry-standard software used for music production and live performance. It is a highly relevant tool for the creation of many types of popular contemporary music. It is widely used for both studio production and as a live performance instrument.

One specific area of focus for this workshop is utilising Ableton Live as a performance tool that can be linked with a range of instruments and devices, including Ableton's Push 2 hardware instrument - which is highly suited for engaging even non-instrumentalists.

Ableton Live offers opportunities to explore collaborative music creation and performances, and also provides a platform to explore new repertoire and approaches for classroom ensembles.

Collaborate and record

Soundtrap is an online digital audio workspace that enables students to make music, create and collaborate with their friends wherever they are,  in or out of the classroom.

As well as being a ‘walled garden*’, a safe and secure education platform, Soundtrap is also cloud-based, meaning that other than internet access it requires no additional equipment or resources. It is device and operating system neutral.

The MF Studio workshop that features Soundtrap has been designed to enable student creativity, communication and collaboration. The activities and resources initially focus on songwriting, composition, beat making and electronic music production, but include multimedia approaches such as podcasting and film scoring projects.
