​Film Making and
​Animation Made Simple

Want to make student films and animations but not sure where to start or how to do it?

​Would you like your students to take charge and drive the creative process?​

​Want to create powerful demonstrated learning in your school?


​This is a practical workshop that leads teachers through the strategies and processes necessary to get your students conceiving, writing, recording, editing and publishing finished products that they can be proud of.  

We’ll use tools that aren’t expensive and are readily available.  

And we'll demonstrate these how to create your own films and animations through the use of multi award winning student films like:

Blackbird - a multi award winning Grade 3 animation
or the Year 7 animation Sina and the Eel - a winner of ATOM awards

​or the Year 8 documentary Right Under Your Nose - also an ATOM award winning production.

​Gene Geoffrey is a professional film maker after graduated from Swinburne Institute of Technology specialising in film, has work for two Australian TV Networks . 

Gene has produced a telemovie for GTV9, two feature films and number of award winning short films, documentaries and produced and wrote television series for the ABC, His last project is Defend Conserve Protect is a feature length documentary which he wrote and is narrated by Dan Aykoryd.

Gene taught film production at RMIT for seven years, worked with the Victorian Innovation Commission and spent four years working on developing film and animation projects  with Dr Maureen O’Rourke.
 
Gene has a long standing passion to work with students to produce documentaries and animation with students in primary and secondary school. The students who have worked with Gene have achieved great success in the student film award field including eight ATOM awards, seven KidzFlicks and numerous other festival gongs.  His student’s  work  relieve accolades at international student festivals around the world including Georgia, Croatia, Brazil and many other countries.

With a clear purpose and structure, Gene creates an environment where students are able to express their ideas and develop high quality productions to create powerful outcomes.  Gene has a long association delivering Professional Development courses.

The workshop content and take away resources include:

•Developing project concepts and outcomes
•Opportunities for cross curricula integration that extend well beyond media arts including  – English, languages, visual and performing arts, intercultural studies and citizenship
•Mastering basic camera, sound, lighting and post production techniques
•Scripting writing and storyboarding
•Copyright and creative commons
•Creating audiences for your student projects
•Making the most of the resources and equipment you have- at no or low cost
•Resources and materials   for you to take away
•Includes lunch and morning tea and;
•6.5 hours of certified professional learning
